Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward following a fail-to-stop road traffic collision in Bournemouth in which a man sustained serious injuries.
Dorset Police received a report at 10.15 p.m. on Friday, 10 January 2025, of a collision involving a vehicle and a bicycle in Castle Lane West, near to the Broadway Roundabout. It was reported that the vehicle involved failed to stop at the scene.
Emergency services attended, and the male cyclist, aged in his 20s, has been taken to hospital for treatment for injuries that are believed to be serious. His next of kin have been informed.
Road closures were put in place as enquiries were carried out in the vicinity. The road reopened at around 11.50pm.
Sergeant Lee Savage, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are carrying out extensive enquiries into this incident to identify the vehicle involved, and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with information that might assist our investigation to please contact us.
“I would also urge anyone who was driving in the area and has a dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything of relevance.
“Furthermore, I would like to urge anyone who is aware of any vehicles that have sustained damage around the relevant time period in unexplained circumstances to please report it to us.
“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures as we carried out enquiries into this incident.”
