Man seriously injured in traffic collision in Bournemouth

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following a serious injury road traffic collision in Bournemouth.

Dorset Police received a report at 8.02pm on Wednesday 27 December 2023 of a collision involving a silver Vauxhall Astra and a green Vauxhall Insignia on West Overcliff Drive, near the junction with West Cliff Road.

The driver of the Vauxhall Insignia was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

Road closures were put in place while emergency services responded to the collision, and an examination of the scene was carried out.

Sergeant Gareth Thomas, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “An investigation is underway to establish what happened, and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to the police.

“Also, I would like to speak to any motorists who were travelling in the vicinity and may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures.”
