Man Sought Following Touching Incident In Weymouth Town Centre

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward as they investigate an incident of sexual touching in Weymouth.

At around 4.45pm on Friday 11 July 2025, an 18-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl were walking along Fredrick Place in Weymouth close to the Toymaster store, when they were approached by a man who was unknown to them.

It is reported that the man reached out towards the 18-year-old woman with his arm and touched her on the upper thigh before walking away.

He is described as white, five feet tall and aged in his 40s, with thinning brown hair and possible balding on top. He was wearing square-framed glasses, white wired headphones, a grey hooded top and blue shorts.

Police Constable Lauren Edwards, of Dorset Police, said: “This was an uncomfortable and distressing experience for the young people involved, and we are continuing to investigate this incident to establish the full circumstances of what occurred.

“I am keen to hear from any witnesses in the area who saw what happened, or any motorists driving along Fredrick Place at the time who may have captured relevant dashcam footage.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who believes they may know the identity of the aforementioned man to please get in touch with us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55250101743. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
