Community groups around Weymouth and Portland are being encouraged to organise clean-up events from 4 to 6 March to celebrate her majesty’s birthday.

Clean For The Queen has been launched by Keep Britain Tidy. The aim of the campaign is to get volunteers across the country to clean up Britain in time for Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday, which will be officially celebrated in June 2016.

Weymouth and Portland Mayor, Cllr Christine James said: “I want as many community groups as possible to host Clean For The Queen events across Weymouth and Portland to get the borough looking the best in can be in time to celebrate The Queen’s 90th birthday.

“I would like community groups to send in their pictures of their community clean-ups so we can celebrate the success of everyone’s efforts and hopefully The Queen will see what a good job we have done.”

The borough council is offering two Clean For The Queen cleaning kits for the first two community organisations who come forward with their community group name, date and time of event and where the clear-up is taking place.
