Officers investigating a report of assault where a man sustained serious injuries in Weymouth are appealing for information – with two men charged in connection with the incident.
Dorset Police received a report that at 9.42pm on Wednesday, 3 December 2025, a man aged in his 30s had been approached by a group of men in the alleyway that runs between St Thomas Street and Custom House Quay outside Rendezvous.
It was reported that one of the men, who was known to the victim, had made offensive remarks during the assault and £20 in cash was also stolen from him.
The victim sustained serious facial and head injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Following enquiries, a 45-year-old man from Weymouth was arrested and charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, theft and a public order offence. A 45-year-old man from Poole was also arrested and charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.
Both men are due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday 5 December 2025.
Detective Sergeant Kate Rhodes, of Dorset County CID, said: “We have carried out extensive enquiries into this incident, which has already resulted in two men being arrested and charged in connection with this matter.
“We are continuing to carry out further investigations and I am appealing for any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please come forward.”
