Statement:

The inset photo was taken a few months ago at the time we as a club couldn’t be more proud to be meeting the local MP and getting his support. However, time moves forward a few month and after hearing this week that Middleton MP Chris Clarkson refused to Help the FREE school meals Project and voted against it. We as a club would like to remove our involvement with Chris and his Team with immediate effect.

My Reasoning – You Chris looked me in the eyes when I was stood in the rain talking to you passionately about how Middleton is a deprived area and not every parent can afford to play. We even had in the conversation ‘£3 to one parent is a meal to someone else’. You Chris stood there and nodded, I brought my son to meet you, who is fortunate enough not to need the free meals but one of his friends might. We were so proud. I was so proud. We thought you were going to help us. Instead I’ve not heard from you in over 2 months – Were we just another PR stunt?

That’s not the actual issue though is it?

You signed something you should never of signed. We don’t support your decision and we certainly don’t want that kind of support as a club. If your PR… team see this we don’t want a response and explanation. This isn’t politics or point scoring this is people’s lives and not just any people, Young children.
