Parliament should be recalled immediately to debate the Gaza crisis, MPs said today. Bradford West MP George Galloway and Hywel Williams, MP for Arfon, have both written to the Speaker of the House of Commons asking him for an urgent debate on the slaughter taking place in the most crowded place on earth.

George Galloway MP said:
‘I’ve been inundated with pleas and requests from constituents asking why parliament is not sitting whilst the catastrophe in Gaza unfolds. MPs cannot sit on the beaches or on our hands as thousands of Palestinians are murdered and maimed. This is an issue in which Britain is deeply involved, as the author of the original and disastrous division of the region and a major supporter of Israel – and major weapons supplier! – since. We cannot stand by in the face of this murderous carnage. The British parliament has to discuss this now and come out with a clear and unequivocal condemnation of the slaughter of civilians, principally women and children.’

Hywel Williams MP said:
‘How many more Palestinians have to die before we interrupt MPs holidays.’
