Dear Mr Drax
I am disappointed, though scarcely surprised, to discover that you voted to suspend the Dubs Amendment, thus ignoring a paragraph of a British law. I note that 3000 refugees, child or not, could vanish into your ample estate scarcely without trace. My disappointment springs from the fact that you, who are so privileged, scarcely give a damn for those human beings who have so very little and who lost whatever they had partly because of British support for US intervention in the Middle East.
Whilst accepting that your lack of a humanitarian response to young refugees is probably immovable, I would urge you to reconsider and to urge your government to take a fair share of the young adults of Calais and Dunkirk, liaising fully with councils and other agencies who are willing to step up to the mark. My disability prevents me from demonstrating my support for today’s legal challenge, but I sincerely hope that it is won.
Yours Sincerely
Tim Nicholls
