A man is due to appear in court in connection with a reported disturbance in Christchurch.

At 7.26am on Saturday 19 June 2021 officers were called to reports of a disturbance at an address in Everest Road.

It is reported that one person sustained minor injuries during the incident and had already left the address before officers arrived.

One man remained inside the property and officers spent a number of hours speaking to the man with the aim of bringing the matter to a safe conclusion and to ensure he could access the appropriate medical care. The incident was brought to a safe conclusion at 12.45pm.

A section of Everest Road, and a nearby One Stop store, was cordoned off to allow officers to deal with the incident safely.

A 39-year-old local man was arrested at the scene and has been charged with assault, assault of an emergency worker and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of violence and is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday 21 June 2021.
