Officers searching for a missing Portland man are renewing their appeal for help from the public to locate him – with a CCTV image being released.

Dorset Police received a report at 10.39pm on Thursday 23 July 2020 raising concern for the welfare of 34-year-old Thomas Gatfield after he was in mobile phone contact with family and friends and seemed very upset.

Thomas is described as white, five feet nine inches tall with short blond hair and tattoos of a sail boat and a skull on his neck. He was last seen wearing black shorts, a black hooded top with ‘Fox’ on the front in gold and black Nike trainers.

Extensive searches have continued in a bid to locate Thomas, assisted by HM Coastguard, the NPAS helicopter and Dorset Search and Rescue (DorSAR).

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Bell, of Dorset Police, said: “Following enquiries we have obtained a CCTV image of Thomas from the night he went missing that shows the clothing he was wearing.

“We are continuing our searches and other enquiries to try and locate Thomas and we are now releasing the CCTV image in the hope that it may jog people’s memories who may have seen him in the area.

“I remain concerned for Thomas’s welfare who has not been in contact with his family since he went missing and I am keen to ensure he is safe and well.

“I am renewing my appeal for anyone with information as to his whereabouts, or who has seen a man matching the description given since the evening of Thursday 23 July, to please get contact us immediately.”

Anyone with information or knowledge as to where Thomas might be is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting incident number 24:356.
