Radio and TV news is a very personal way of transmitting a message. Given the ideology of the BBC’s coverage of events around the world, I just wanted to reassure you: you’re not alone in your questioning of what is transmitted to you.
You are not alone in thinking:
That Brexit and selling arms to dictators created the plight of desperate people crossing the Channel in rubber boats.
That the ridiculous price of food in the supermarket is far more important than denigrating desperate people crossing the Channel in rubber boats.
That the ridiculous cost of energy is more important than denigrating desperate people crossing the Channel in rubber boats.
That water, which we both drink and swim in, should be a right, and we shouldn’t be paying shareholders for the privilege.
That underfunded public health measures to prevent flu have led to thousands of people in hospitals.
That resident doctors need to be thanked in their pay and conditions as much as patients do in gratitude for saving them.
That the urgent need for NHS dentists is more important than denigrating desperate people crossing the Channel in rubber boats.
That NHS dentists need to be thanked in pay as much as in gratitude.
That the stress of living in society today causes us all mental health problems, and consequent psychiatric problems aren’t being ‘over-diagnosed’.
That the NHS in crisis overall is more important than denigrating desperate people crossing the Channel in rubber boats.
That lower-rung public sector pay, where people work hard for the community for a vote of thanks but little in the way of pay, needs to change.
That the wealthy should pay their bit for society and not the little guys.
That the wealthy are the true scroungers and leeches of society, not those who, through no fault of their own, have become too sick to work.
That decent jobs are being destroyed as the government gives artificial intelligence companies a free run to wreak havoc on the jobs market.
That the planet is getting hotter, the climate less predictable and big businesses’ income shouldn’t take priority over that.
That the climate is more important than denigrating desperate people crossing the Channel in rubber boats.
That you feel let down by a government that prizes billionaires over the plight of teaching assistants, bar staff, shop assistants, cleaners and small businesses.
That murder of innocent civilians and children in the Middle East is wrong, no matter what you are told is apparently acceptable.
That most Jews agree with you.
That Israel and Zionism isn’t Judaism – Zionists are just more hating right wingers.
That protest against the mass murder is acceptable, regardless of how our Establishment respond.
That protesters calling for Israel to be brought to heel are not siding with the Bondi Beach murderers.
That questioning a right wing philosophy is not to be racist and ‘antisemitic’.
That the BBC should withdraw from Eurovision in protest over Israel – not just report on other countries’ more ethical state broadcasters doing so.
That Nigel Farage is just a well-connected bon vivant who would be no one without the BBC.
That Reform are just a mouth-ache group of public schoolboys who get more coverage than they deserve.
That we need representatives in Parliament not rulers.
That those representatives need to listen to us and not each other in the Westminster/mainstream media echo chamber.
That, with a few exceptions, a stable of donkeys in Westminster runs a country of lions.
That community is more important than division.
That hate is not the right way forward, but love is.
You are not alone. Remember that when you rant at the radio or TV that the Establishment are wrong and not you, no matter how they try to make you believe otherwise.
