Nigel Farage and Liz Truss are funded by billionaires. Some we know of, others prefer to remain in the shadows and require extra effort to find. Let us take a look at Nigel and Liz and try and find as much as we can on who is paying them to behave as they do.

Nigel Farage has had various sources of funding throughout his career. One of the most notable supporters has been millionaire insurance tycoon Arron Banks. Banks spent approximately £450,000 on Farage, funding his lifestyle in the year following the EU referendum in 2016. This included renting a £4.4 million home in Chelsea, providing a Land Rover Discovery, and covering other expenses such as council tax, utility bills, and security details. Banks also funded Farage’s trips to the United States and organized events to promote “Brand Farage” in America (Channel 4) (Wikipedia).

Farage’s claims to be anti establishment founder on the rocks when one tracks down who is funding him. According to Novara Media:

Richard Tice, the party’s chairman, has donated several million pounds since the 2019 election and £500,000 during the current campaign. He was educated at Uppingham School and leads the property firm Quidnet Capital.

Robin Birley, an Etonian and owner of 5 Hertford Street, a luxurious private members’ club, contributed £25,000. This club is frequented by rightwing politicians like Farage and Boris Johnson.

Richard Smith, whose company supplies aviation electronics, gave £50,000. He owns 55 Tufton Street, known for housing rightwing think tanks.

Holly Valance, former actress and spouse of billionaire Nick Candy, donated £50,000. She has supported far-right politicians, including Donald Trump.

Fitriani Hay, a major donor to Liz Truss’s 2022 campaign, switched her support to Farage with a £50,000 contribution.

Despite Farage’s anti-elite rhetoric, his financial support comes from affluent and influential backers (Channel 4) (Wikipedia).

Liz Truss, former UK Prime Minister and prominent Conservative Party member, has received significant financial support from various sources. One of her key backers is the Midlands Industrial Council (MIC), a group of wealthy donors known for supporting Conservative politicians. Truss’s leadership campaign in 2022 received contributions from donors such as MIC member Anthony Bamford, the chairman of JCB, who donated £50,000. Other notable contributors include financier Michael Hintze and property developer Johan Eliasch (Wikipedia).

Liz Truss also receives money from a group known as Popular Conservatives or PopCons for short. Among them is the Institute for Economic Affairs (IEA). The IEA is a ‘dark money’ think tank. It refuses to name its donors, but has been funded by BP, Big Tobacco and – as Democracy for Sale reported last summer – US funders of climate denial. And who is the big face of climate denial? One Donald Trump.

Therefore it is no surprise to find them invited to the Republican Convention and acting rather embarrassed and coy.

They have fooled so many with their paid for lies and they will continue to do so. And don’t they know it.
