Officers carrying out targeted patrols as part of the Force’s crackdown against suspected drug misuse have arrested three people and seized suspected drugs worth around £10,000.

On the evening of Tuesday 5 July 2022 officers from Bournemouth North and Poole Neighbourhood Policing Teams carried out patrol activity across the two areas.

A 17-year-old boy from Poole was arrested at Winton recreation ground on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and class B drugs, assault by beating of an emergency worker and failing to surrender to bail. A large quantity of suspected drugs, believed to have a street value in the region of £10,000 was seized, along with suspected drug parahelia.

Officers also carried out around 15 safe and well cuckooing checks on vulnerable individuals, seized a car and arrested a 19-year-old Poole man for failing to surrender to bail and a 33-year-old man, also from Poole, on suspicion of possession of cannabis. The 33-year-old man has since been charged and is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday 25 July 2022.

The activity was part of Operation Viper, the Force’s commitment to tackling county drugs gangs and making the region a hostile place for those suspected in dealing drugs and bringing misery on communities across Dorset.

Sergeant Dan Cullen, of the BCP Neighbourhood Enforcement Team, said: “We are continuing with our sustained activity to disrupt the efforts of those who are suspected of being involved in the supply of illegal drugs in our communities and work closely with our local neighbourhood policing teams to respond to reported activity in our area.

“I would urge anyone with information relating to suspected drug-related activity to please report it to us at www.dorset.police.uk/contact, via email [email protected] or by calling 101. If a crime is in progress, always dial 999.”
