Widely acclaimed as one of Britain’s finest classical guitarists John Mills will give a recital in Lytchett Minster this month in remembrance of his friend, the late composer Graham Stansfield.
A former pupil of Segovia, John will be joined by his wife, virtuoso Cobie Smit, for a special concert of pulsating rhythms and haunting melodies from Spain, Argentina, Paraguay, England and Ireland featuring both guitar solos and duets on Friday 28 September at Lytchett Minster Parish Church.
The show offers a rare chance to see two world-class musicians in relatively intimate surroundings as they pay tribute to a much-missed friend and colleague.
Dorset composer and concert promoter Graham Stansfield passed away in April after a valiant struggle with cancer.
‘After Graham’s memorial service John Mills offered his services to perform a charity concert in memory of Graham to raise funds for Bowel Cancer UK – I was truly humbled,’ says Graham’s widow Pam Stansfield.
Advance tickets are available now for £10 from the Parish Office of St Dunstan’s, Upton on 01202 624622, or email [email protected]. Tickets will also be sold on the door if available.
