Pavilion Dance South West has had a varied and action-packed Autumn Season, introducing family film screenings, co-commissioning Sir Peter Maxwell Davies’s Vesalii Icones with Bournemouth Arts by the Sea Festival and collaborating with Wessex Cancer Trust in our first ever Christmas Business Come Dancing event to raise funds for our Parkinson’s Dance class.

Our upcoming Spring Season will offer a varied programme of dance and movement-based performances, shows for families & young people, art house films and live Bolshoi Ballet and ENO screenings.

The season will commence on Thursday 5 February at 7.30pm with the spectacular 4 x 4 Ephemeral Architectures by Gandini Juggling, a collision of worlds combining the artforms of ballet and juggling, directed by world-renowed juggler Sean Gandini and choreographed by Royal Ballet dancer Ludovic Ondiviela. The season will then continue with seven further performances in the regular Thursday Night is Dance Night format, and will include touching, exciting and humorous performances from diverse line-up of artists.

The On Screen season will continue with a programme of art house and world cinema every Monday for our ‘Monday Night is Film Night’ programme. We are delighted to announce we will be continuing our ‘Edit Room’ events after a successful run during Autumn. These are a series of monthly events to complement our film programme with lectures, talks and classes, including a funk DJ set before screening the James Brown biopic Get on Up on 26 January, followed by a Q&A with directors of The Possibilities Are Endless on 9 February. We are also continuing our programme of family films and live Bolshoi screenings, as well as introducing a season of ENO Live screenings, streamed live from the London Coliseum.

For Families & Young People we have an interactive “follow the leader” themed performance called Say Something by H2Dance on 15 February. On 15 March we are welcoming back Mr. Boom to perform the ever-entertaining Meeting Mr Boom! performed on an inflatable set! There is also a workshop free to ticket-holders where your little ones can get involved with physical and fun dance workshop on the inflatable set itself!

The season further offers a series of professional development opportunities for professional dance artists and teachers and a full programme of dance and movement classes for all ages and abilities.
