PCC Delivers Eight Manifesto Pledges Within First 100 Days of Office

Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Martyn Underhill, has implemented the eight key manifesto pledges he aimed to achieve during his first 100 days of his new term of office.

These eight commitments were:

  1. Introduce a 101 service improvement panel which would use members of councils, voluntary groups and members of the public to scrutinise calls made to the non-emergency 101 service.
  2. Launch the Safer Dorset Foundation, a charity focused on crime prevention and promoting a safer and improved quality of life for the people of Dorset.
  3. Increase the number of officers dealing with cases of online child abuse in response to rising demand.
  4. Fund an extra post in the marine unit to maintain cover across two separate shifts.
  5. Implement a rural crime team to prevent, investigate and prosecute crimes specifically affecting rural communities.
  6. Commission a report to better understand what energy efficiencies can be made to reduce the carbon footprint of the force.
  7. Continue to educate residents and businesses on how to stay safe online.
  8. Invest in an increase in drug driving kits across the force which can be used on the roadside when a police officer suspects someone of driving under the influence of drugs.

Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner, Martyn Underhill, said; “Achieving these first eight commitments is a stepping stone onto further work I outlined throughout my manifesto and I am grateful for the Force’s support. Some of the longer term objectives I have for this term include moving the police complaints process into my office, reducing the number of victims of crime and reoffending rates in Dorset, protecting those members of our community that are more at risk and increasing overall police officer numbers.”
