Officers investigating the theft of medals from Wimborne are issuing a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to.

Sometime between 12pm and 12.20pm on Saturday 2 February 2019 entry was gained to a car parked in the trader’s car park at Wimborne Market. The offender or offenders smashed a rear window of the car to gain access.

A plain black box containing 162 single military medals and some group medals was stolen.

Police Community Support Investigator Cheryl Belfield, of East Dorset police, said: “A number of enquiries have been carried out in relation to this theft and I am now in a position to issue a photo of a man I would like to speak to.

“This man attempted to sell some of the stolen medals at Sunbury Antiques Market held at Kempton Racecourse and I believe he may have important information that may assist my investigation.

“Although the image is of poor quality this is the best we have and I still hope that someone may be able to recognise him. I would ask anyone with information to please contact Dorset Police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55190017525. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
