Award-winning professional wildlife photographer, Colin Varndell, will be holding workshops at Dorset Wildlife Trust’s (DWT) Kingcombe Centre, to talk about his new book ‘The Natural Beauty of Dorset’ and provide a unique insight into the world of professional photography.
Colin Varndell has won accolades four times in the wildlife photographer of the year competition, as well as many others including the International Garden photographer of the year competition. His photographs are represented by six international picture libraries including Getty and the Nature Picture Library.
Colin is a long-standing DWT member, and generously supports the conservation charity with his wonderful wildlife and landscape photographs for use in the DWT magazine and the DWT 2014 and 2015 calendar. He said: “I first became interested in wildlife after watching Kingfishers and photographing them on river banks in Bradpole in Dorset. I started with bird photography, but now it’s everything, from woodland, to lowland terrestrial wildlife and landscapes. I am particularly interested in the landscape of the Jurassic Coast, and for my new book ‘the Natural Beauty of Dorset’, I really enjoyed the challenge of photographing Dorset’s coastline, from Lyme Regis, to Old Harry Rocks.”
On Saturday 22nd November, Colin will be giving an illustrated talk about his new book, ‘The Natural Beauty of Dorset’, at the Kingcombe Centre from 6.15pm- 7.45pm. Tickets cost £5 per person, including refreshments.
For those who want some practical advice about wildlife photography, and how to get the perfect shot, The Kingcombe Centre is also running a one-day work shop with Colin on Sunday 30th November from 10.30am – 3.30pm for £50, including lunch. The workshop is suitable for beginners or those more experienced. A variety of subjects will be covered, from macro to landscape photography, with a chance to put your skills into practice and learn from an expert.
