Police Officer Hospitalised Following Collision

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following a road traffic collision in Bournemouth.

It is reported that at around 7.30pm on Saturday 21 September 2024 a collision occurred on Christchurch Road at the junction with Derby Road involving a Ford Fiesta and a marked police car.

Emergency services attended the scene and the road was closed between the junctions with Knyveton Road and St Swithun’s Roundabout. The road reopened at around 9.15pm.

A police officer has been taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that are not life-threatening or life-changing.

Police Sergeant Lee Savage, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “Officers were at the scene carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances of the collision.

“I am appealing to anyone who saw what happened or captured anything of relevance on dashcam to please contact Dorset Police.

“We would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding while the road was closed.”
