Police Officer Hospitalised Following Collision

UPDATE:

A man has been charged and is due to appear at court in connection with a road traffic collision in Sturminster Marshall.

Dorset Police received a report at 9.29pm on Monday 29 September 2025 of a collision involving an unmarked police vehicle and a white BMW on the A31 between Stag Gate and the Roundhouse Roundabout.

Emergency services attended and road closures were put in place to allow them to deal with the incident.

A police officer was treated by the ambulance service and taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not described as life-threatening or life-changing and he has since been released from hospital.

There were no reports of any injuries to the occupant of the other vehicle involved.

The driver of the BMW – a 35-year-old man – was arrested on suspicion of driving offences.

He has subsequently been charged with dangerous driving and is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 16 October 2025.

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward following a road traffic collision in Sturminster Marshall.

Police Sergeant Mike Burt, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into the collision and I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please make contact.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who was travelling in the area at the time and may have captured relevant dashcam footage.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
