Police seek witnesses following serious incident in Weymouth town centre

Officers investigating an incident where a man sustained serious injuries in Weymouth town centre are appealing for witnesses or anyone dashcam footage to come forward.

Dorset Police received a report from the ambulance service at 7.37pm on Thursday 27 April 2023 of a man requiring medical assistance at Westham Bridge. The ambulance service had been alerted to the incident at 7.21pm.

Officers attended and located a man aged in his 40s with injuries to his head and face. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

An investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

Police Constable Fiona Napier, of Weymouth CID, said: “This incident left a man hospitalised and we are determined to find out what happened.

“I would ask any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please come forward.

“I am also keen to hear from any motorists who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage. Their information could be crucial to our investigation.”
