Officers investigating a fatal road traffic collision in Poole are appealing for further witnesses to come forward.
Dorset Police received a report at 5.35pm on Sunday 13 February 2022 of a collision near to the junction of Station Road and Church Road in Ashley Cross.
A 32-year-old male pedestrian from Southampton suffered serious injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital for treatment. Very sadly, he died in hospital on Wednesday 16 February 2022.
Enquiries by officers indicate the collision also involved a silver Land Rover Freelander and a grey Nissan Pulsar.
Sergeant Jay Griffin, of the traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family of the man who sadly died.
“Since the tragic incident we have been carrying out a full investigation and are now appealing for further witnesses to come forward.
“I am keen to locate the driver of a small white VW Polo who stopped to speak to someone. We believe the Polo came from Sea View Road to Ashley Cross and turned left from Church Road onto Station Road.
“Also, the occupants of a dark coloured – possibly grey – Range Rover VELAR, which would have been driving up the hill on Station Road immediately behind the silver Freelander, may have seen what happened and I would therefore encourage them to contact us.
“Both vehicles were at the location of the collision at the relevant time between 5.25pm and 5.40pm on Sunday 13 February 2022.”
A 41-year-old Poole man was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
A 79-year-old man from Poole is also assisting with enquiries and attended for a voluntary police interview.
