NT Live: The Playboy of the Western World (12)

Tuesday 2, Friday 5 June, 7.30pm (Tue), 5pm (Fri), Cinema
Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton) joins Éanna Hardwicke (The Sixth Commandment) and Siobhán McSweeney (Derry Girls) in John Millington Synge’s riveting play of youth and self-discovery.

Amy & Carlos: Reborn
Tuesday 2 June, 7.45pm, Theatre
Having made a stunning return to the Strictly dancefloor, Amy Dowden MBE, accompanied by fellow sensational Strictly Come Dancing star Carlos Gu, is back with a new show. Featuring a dazzling cast of world-class dancers, amazing live vocalists, and a soundtrack of iconic anthems from across the decades, the show will take audiences on an emotional and uplifting journey through show-stopping routines.

The Smyths
Thursday 4 June, 7.30pm, Concert Hall

For more than 20 years, The Smyths have brought the music of The Smiths back to life in the live arena across more than 900 shows around the world. Rather than employ props and clichéd visual tropes, The Smyths focus on the live experience of a Smiths show, imagining what The Smiths would sound like today after more than 40 years of playing the songs to several generations of fans. (The Smiths played Poole Arts Centre on 6 March 1985.)

Acclaimed Scottish singer-songwriter Adam Beattie and multi-platinum singer-songwriter Fiona Bevan return to Lighthouse on their latest double headline tour.

80s Classical

Nik Kershaw, Johnny Hates Jazz and Carol Decker take to the stage to perform their timeless classics, including Wouldn’t It Be Good, Shattered Dreams, and China In Your Hand backed by the breathtaking power of Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

Studio Jazz: The Darius Brubeck Quartet

Friday 5 June, 7.45pm, Sherling Studio

Lighthouse favourites, led by Dave’s pianist son Darius, play Dave Brubeck’s hits along with South African jazz, inspired by Darius’s long stint living there. Darius’ superb playing is complemented by an amazing band featuring renowned saxophonist Dave O’Higgins.

Keith Brymer Jones & Marj Hogarth – Us, Pots and Our Welsh Chapel Dream

Beloved Great Pottery Throw Down judge and ceramic designer Keith Brymer Jones returns to the stage with his partner in life and crime, actor and designer Marj Hogarth, as they share stories of clay, craft, and their most ambitious project yet… bringing a building back to life. Age guidance: 16+

The Bob Ross Effect

Artist, animal lover, unlikely sex symbol and TV star Bob Ross taught an entire generation to embrace their inner creativity through his low budget programme, The Joy Of Painting. Written and performed by Sarah-Louise Young (An Evening Without Kate Bush, Lighthouse panto), The Bob Ross Effect celebrates his enduring appeal, weaving touching stories of resilience and recovery with playful invitations to participate and explore your own creativity. Age guidance: 12+

SMOKE + You Are Loved Panel
Friday 12 June, 8pm, Sherling Studio

SMOKE is the newest play from acclaimed queer theatre-maker Alexis Gregory (Riot Act) whose work has appeared in the West End, across London, the UK, and internationally, and is directed by the award-winning filmmaker Campbell X (Stud Life, Low Rider). It’s a hard-hitting, savage comic-thriller about another dead gay guy on social media, drugs, the Demon Twink in Starbucks, and Mariah Carey. A post-show panel is hosted by non-profit organisation You Are Loved (YAL), created in response to disproportionately high rates of premature deaths from suicide and drugs in the LGBTQ+ community, focuses on addressing the root causes, including stigma, shame and loneliness. Age guidance: 16+

Mahler Symphony No. 8
Saturday 13 June, 7.30pm, Concert Hall

Experience Mahler’s cosmic masterpiece, the Symphony of a Thousand, brought to life by a monumental orchestra and hundreds of voices. Conductor Maxime Tortelier leads Magna Sinfonia, Bournemouth Symphony and Youth Choruses, and eight soloists for this epic musical journey of faith and humanity.

Sam Sweeney Trio

Known for his expressive playing and bold musical vision, Sam Sweeney (violin) leads his trio through richly textured arrangements of traditional and original material. With Ben Nicholls’ deep, resonant bass and Louis Campbell’s innovative guitar work, the trio crafts a sound that is both grounded in English folk tradition and alive with contemporary energy.
