Poole man arrested following assault on bus

Officers investigating a reported assault that occurred on a bus in Poole are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

At around 8.15pm on Thursday 22 October 2020 Dorset Police received a report of an assault that had occurred on a bus outside the Hollywood Bowl on Poole Road in Branksome.

It was reported that the victim – a Bournemouth man aged in his 30s – had been travelling on the M2 bus from Bournemouth to Poole when he was involved in an altercation with another man and was allegedly assaulted.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to a fractured finger and facial injuries.

A 35-year-old man from Poole was arrested at the scene in connection with the assault and he has been released under investigation.

Investigations Officer Stevie Tiernan, of Dorset Police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this incident and I understand there were a number of other people on the bus at the time it occurred.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the alleged assault, or the moments leading up to it, to please contact us.”
