A man has been charged after an investigation into a serious collision in Poole.

Dorset Police received a report that overnight between Tuesday 10 September 2024 and Wednesday 11 September 2024 a grey Volvo XC90 had been stolen from an address in the Westbourne area of Bournemouth.

At around 6.25pm on Wednesday 11 September 2024 the vehicle was seen in the area of Poole town centre and reportedly failed to stop for officers. Searches were carried out – assisted by the NPAS helicopter – and the vehicle was subsequently located in Alder Crescent where it had collided with a red Alfa Romeo.

A 20-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and was subsequently charged with dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen, driving without insurance, driving without a valid licence, failing to stop after a road accident and vehicle theft and damage. He will appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday 13 September 2024 for a remand hearing. The date of his next court appearance has yet to be decided.
