With fans across the world, even though Bristol-based dance fusion sound system Dr Meaker are in heavy demand for summer shows every summer, they insist on making time to return to Poole Harbour Festival.

And they’re back again for this year’s festival, from 28 to 30 July at Baiter Park by the shores of Poole Harbour. It’s their third Poole Harbour Festival in a row and producer Clive Meaker can’t wait to play the Main Stage on Saturday night showcasing their uniquely Bristolian soul, funk and drum&bass.

“Every year gets better and better,” says the good Doctor. “What I love about it is that it’s a family festival and so you get a broad base of the community coming along with an open mind.

“And the people just seem to love us and so the vibes just flow and grow year on year. It’s really what a festival should be – the community all coming together and having it!”

For anyone who’s managed to miss you, or hasn’t yet caught the band elsewhere, what can they expect?

“They can expect a set that starts musical and jazzy and that grows into a much more energetic and hard sound – uplifting and euphoric. Our vocalists are amazing and will take you on a journey with them.”

Bristol has its own way of moulding electronic sounds, how do you do it, where do the influences come from, and what drives the creativity?

“Yes 100% it does,” says Clive. “I mix ‘Dirt’ and ‘Soul’. I’m inspired massively by the Prodigy, Massive Attack, Reprazent – as well as many of the people and musicians who inspired them. I love world class singers, from Randy Crawford to Paul Carrack.

“Our sound mixes that soul sound with heavy beats and bass inspired by music from all around the world… and in a Bristol style indeed!”

The people of Poole are excited to see you back at the Harbour Festival, so how is this festival season shaping up for you; what have been the highlights so far?

“We have an amazing summer this year with over 20 festivals. So far, highlights have been Shindig Festival, Blue Lagoon Festival and Bristol Volks Fest. We had a great time in Switzerland a few weeks ago too!”

Finally, as a Doctor of good times, what’s your prescription for the perfect party?

Oh, it has to be great music played on a great sound system with like-minded, free and energetic people. Look out Poole!”

Poole Harbour Festival is counting down to welcome thousands of visitors to enjoy the biggest like up in its history with chart topping headline acts The Hoosiers and Lightning Seeds joining The Cheeky Girls, The Lottery Winners and Space on the Main Stage. The bill also includes top UK tributes to Queen, Foo Fighters, Oasis, Prodigy, Guns N’ Roses, REM and Coldplay, as well as the best of the area’s grass roots music scene including the ferocious Millie Manders and the Shut Up, Filta, Saints of Sin and everyone’s favourite four string slingers Mother Ukers.

A strong Dance Tent line up features cut-n-paste king Jaguar Skills, superclub star Tall Paul, original Junglist Nicky Blackmarket and the one and only Brandon Block, as well as Bournemouth-based Freeze and The Manor Reunion with Jon Langford and Paul Moss.

And with a top quality menu of international street food, a wide choice of local ales and ciders at the bars and its busy schedule of free children’s entertainment including the amazing dinosaur shows, Mad 4 Animals, Mr Merlin, Krazy Kev and Jules the Entertainer as well as street performers and the popular circus skills workshops, there’s sure to be something for everyone at Poole Harbour Festival.
