The much-anticipated ‘Poundbury Unwrapped’ exhibition is on from May 24 to June 1, 2025, at the Jubilee Hall, Poundbury. Venue 2 on the biennial Open for Art trail (Dorchester, Weymouth, and surrounding areas), this groundbreaking show marks the first time that Poundbury is the theme, showcasing the vibrant artistic interpretations of the area by its talented local artists.
Since its inception in October 1993, Poundbury has attracted much comment, both positive and negative, with architecture, design and a vision to capture the feel of the best parts of London. Now, it boasts a successful, thriving community that stands apart from many other new developments across the UK.
The artists have been carefully selected for their unique approach to Poundbury, reflecting the multifaceted nature of the area and its distinctive architectural styles, as well as its seemingly ad-hoc layout of streets, alleyways, and squares. Featured artists include Mike Willdridge, Rebecca Guyett, Penny Treadwell, Mick O’Hea, Judy Tate, and Pam Philip, alongside fifteen other members of the Art in Poundbury Club, each contributing their unique perspective on the community through their work.
Art in Poundbury plays a vital role in supporting community projects in Poundbury and Dorchester. The organisation provides valuable opportunities for local artists to learn, showcase their talents and connect with like-minded individuals, fostering a rich cultural environment.
