Officers investigating a dog bite incident in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward – with an image of the dog involved being released.
At around 10.30am on Thursday 18 February 2021 a family group, comprising a man and a woman and two young children, was walking along Queensland Road. The group came across a small black Terrier type dog running loose on its own.
The dog was barking aggressively and at one stage tried to get at another dog in a garden. The dog then also jumped up at an elderly woman who was walking her dog, which left this woman clearly upset.
The offending dog then jumped up at one of the children from the original group, so the woman of this group tried to look at the dog’s collar for its details. When she did, this the dog turned around and bit her hand causing puncture wounds. It is believed that the dog is called Scruff.
Police Constable Jennie Skykes-Martin, of Dorset Police, said: “The offending dog was last seen in Dorset Close.
“I have made a number of enquiries in the area, including trying to contact local veterinarian practices, in an effort to try and find the owner of the loose dog. Unfortunately, so far I have been unable to find the owner and I am hoping somebody might be able to help me.
“I am also keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and has further information that could assist my enquiries.”
