Richard Burgon commits to fighting antisemitism in the Labour Party and in wider society. He also says he wants to work with organisations that support ALL Jewish communities to do this and for that reason he won’t be signing up to the Board of Deputies’ 10 pledges.
He makes it clear that that includes working with the BoD.
The Board of Deputies released a statement condemning Burgon’s stance and making it clear that a vote for Burgon will be a vote to “waste yet more years fighting the Jewish community about who gets to define our oppression”.
