Here is proof that Richard Drax, MP for South Dorset, has a controlling interest in the 621-acre Drax Hall Estate in Barbados.
He’d neglected to mention it on the House of Commons Register of Members’ Interests until 29 December 2020, despite the estate being in his family for more than 400 years. Richard Drax inherited the property when his father died in 2017.
When questioned last year he claimed that the estate was in probate and that was not the formal owner. Documents below show that he’s been paying land tax and acting as an owner for at least a year. Drax says omission of the estate in Barbados from the Register, together with and other properties including 500-acres in Yorkshire, amount to an “accidental oversight”.
We wonder what else he’s forgotten to declare?
