Rishi Sunak appointed a Home Secretary who considers his asylum policy as ‘batshit’. Both politician’s positions are now untenable

How do they determine who will fill Cabinet roles? We would really like to know. Do they do any research on the candidate? Do they care? How can a Prime Minister put in place someone who is expected to deliver a key policy when that person has already called it ‘batshit’?

The new Home Secretary is claimed to have made the comment privately after the project was put forward.

Sunak and Cleverley’s positions are now untenable.

The absolute incompetence of the government has yet again seen millions of pounds wasted on a court case that was obviously going to fail. Even Braverman has admitted this. And now to put in place a replacement that describes a policy in such terms means that both ministers are untenable in their roles.

The Tory farce rolls on.
