Road Closures Following Serious Collision Near Abbotsbury

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward following a serious injury road traffic collision near Abbotsbury.

Dorset Police received a report at 12.35pm on Friday 19 December 2025 of a collision involving a red BMW motorcycle and a grey Volkswagen ID.4 on the B3157 Coast Road at Abbotsbury Hill.

Emergency services attended and road closures were put in place as they responded.

The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 50s, was taken by air ambulance to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. His family has been informed.

A passenger from the Volkswagen, a woman aged in her 80s, was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not believed to be serious.

Police Constable Calum Maton, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are carrying out detailed enquiries into this collision and I am keen to hear from any witnesses who have not already spoken to police.

“I would also urge any motorists with dashcam who were travelling in the vicinity around the relevant time to please check their footage for anything that might assist our investigation.

“Finally, I want to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures, which are absolutely necessary to allow us to respond to the incident and carry out enquiries at the scene.”
