Rossi’s Ice Cream, located on the seafront in Weymouth, has made the following tribute to women on this Mother’s Day.
Before Rossi’s became a tradition for families, it was built by one. And some of the most important hands behind the counter belonged to mothers.
Our story starts with Pasqua Figliolini, who helped found Rossi’s alongside her husband Fioravanti. During the Second World War, it was Pasqua herself handing out ice creams to American troops as they passed the parlour on their return to England.
In our next generation, Fulvia Figliolini stepped forward when her husband Eugenio passed away. Many locals will remember this fiery, passionate woman whose strength helped guide the business through a new chapter. It was Fulvia back in 1979 alongside her son (Fulvio) who introduced the now-iconic 1-litre and 2 litre Rossi’s tubs for your home.
Today the story continues with Aimee Figliolini, the newest generation to join the business. She created the recipe for Vegan Rossi’s Ice Cream so that even more people can enjoy a Rossi’s.
From serving behind the counter to shaping the ideas that move the business forward, women and mothers have always been part of the Rossi’s story.
And in many ways, this reflects something much bigger. Across the world and throughout history, women’s ideas, resilience and creativity have quietly shaped everyday life in ways we often take for granted.
