RSPCA Appeal After Body of Starved Dog Found Dumped in Dorset

Warning: This article contains images some readers may find upsetting.

The body of a starved dog has been found dumped in a remote area of Dorset prompting an RSPCA appeal for information.

Storm, a three-year-old Pocket Bully, was found by a member of the public and taken to a vet, who contacted the animal welfare charity with concerns.

The animal charity has released photographs of the poor dog, including a distressing image showing her when she was found in the curtain she’d been wrapped in, in the hope it will help them trace the person responsible.

RSPCA Inspector Tina Ward, who is investigating for the animal welfare charity, said: “The vets called us because, despite decomposition, she was in very poor condition and was emaciated before her death.

“She was found in a remote area between Dorchester and Weymouth on September 26. She was wrapped in a silver curtain and wearing a purple collar. The what3words for the location are become.nuance.impulsive.

“She was chipped and we have spoken with the person registered as the original owner, who has also shared with us pictures showing how she looked when she was alive in the hope someone will recognise her.

“She was rehomed by her original owner and now we’re trying to find out more about what happened to her. We think she could have been in Southampton, Winchester, Dorchester or Weymouth. She has quite distinctive markings and we hope someone will recognise her and be able to help with our investigation.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the RSPCA appeals line number on 0300 123 8018 and refer to incident number 01643845

More information on what the public can do to help animals in need is available on the RSPCA website.
