Officers searching for a man who went missing from Bournemouth have very sadly found a body.

Neil Hurren, aged 79, was reported missing having last been seen in the town at around 10.20am on Tuesday 31 August 2021.

At around 2.30pm on Monday 6 September 2021 officers received a report that a body had very sadly been found in the River Stour near to Longham.

Although formal identification has not yet taken place, it is believed to be that of Neil. His family has been made aware of the sad news.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and HM Coroner has been informed.

Chief Inspector Claire Phillips, of Dorset Police, said: “Our thoughts remain with Neil’s family and friends at this very difficult time. They would now like time in private to deal with their loss.

“We would like to thank everyone who shared our appeals, as well as the partner agencies who assisted us with our searches.”
