A robber who attacked a man and fled with his mobile phone in Poole has been jailed following an investigation by detectives.
Callum Giddins, 22 and of Wimborne, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Wednesday 4 March 2026 to three years in prison.
This Callum Giddins:
A second defendant, 19-year-old Casper Blackmore from Wimborne, was handed an 18-month sentence suspended for two years for his involvement in the incident.
At around 2pm on Monday 17 October 2022, Blackmore and Giddins approached the victim from behind as he sat on a bench in Merley Park Road.
They grabbed him by the back of his neck and punched him multiple times before stealing his iPhone and leaving the scene.
The victim sustained a laceration to his head that required medical treatment.
An investigation was launched and Blackmore and Giddins, who were known to the victim, were identified as being involved. The attack was also caught on CCTV.
The pair were arrested and subsequently charged with robbery. Blackmore pleaded guilty to the offence, while Giddins was found guilty following a trial.
Detective Constable Steven Davis, of BCP CID, said: “The victim in this case was simply sat on a bench and minding his business, unaware that he was to be targeted by two robbers. He was subjected to a vicious attack, had his phone stolen and was left with a head injury that needed medical treatment.
“We are pleased that Blackmore and Giddins are facing justice for their violent actions, and we hope this demonstrates we will do all we can to hold offenders to account.”
