Serious Assault in Lyme Regis as two Youths Sought

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following an assault in Lyme Regis.

At around 8.45 pm on Friday, 20 March 2026, the victim – a man aged in his 50s – was walking in the area of Silver Street when he saw the two male suspects near to the Lyme Regis Baptist Church.

Following a brief verbal exchange, the two suspects assaulted the victim before a passing motorcyclist pulled over to assist him and the offenders made off.

The victim sustained facial injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

One of the suspects is described as white, aged between 16 and 20, around five feet 11 inches tall and of very slim build with straight short hair. He was wearing a black top and black tracksuit bottoms.

The second suspect is described as white, aged between 16 and 20, around five feet 11 inches tall and of slim build with light brown hair. He was wearing a grey tracksuit.

Police Constable Eniko Cracknell, of West Dorset police, said: “We are carrying out a full investigation into this incident and I am keen to hear from witnesses or anyone with information relating to the individuals involved.

“I am also keen to speak to the motorcyclist who stopped to assist the victim.

“Finally, I would urge any motorists who were in the area to please check their dashcam footage for anything that might assist our enquiries.”
