Detectives investigating a serious assault in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses to come forward – with a CCTV image of people they would like to speak to being released.

The incident, in which one man sustained a serious injury, happened just before midnight on Friday 18 December 2015 on New Street in the town.

It was reported that an altercation, involving around four men, occurred just inside the doorway of Goldfingers Night Club.

The victim, a 20-year-old man from Leamington Spa, sustained two breaks to his ankle as a result of the incident and was taken to hospital for immediate surgery.

Detective Constable Sarah Desmond, of Western CID, said: “Following my investigation, I am now in a position to release a CCTV image of people who I believe may have witnessed the incident and I ask that they contact me on 101.

“I would like to make it clear that I am appealing to these people for information and have no reason to believe they were involved.

“I am also appealing to anyone else who may have witnessed the incident or has any information about who was responsible to please come forward.

“All calls will be treated in strict confidence.”

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 20:163. Alternatively, call the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111 where mobile phone tariffs may apply.
