Serious injury as Land Rover collides with mobility scooter near Gillingham

Officers investigating a serious injury collision near Gillingham are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

Dorset Police was called at 11.12am on Wednesday 21 September 2022 to a report of a collision involving a Land Rover Defender and a mobility scooter on the B3081 near West Bourton.

The elderly male rider of the mobility scooter was taken to hospital by the ambulance service for treatment to serious injuries.

The Land Rover driver was uninjured.

Road closures were in place to allow emergency services to safely treat the injured man and carry out an examination of the scene.

Police Sergeant Sarah Jones, of the traffic unit, said: “An investigation is underway to establish what happened and I would ask any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please come forward.

“I am also keen to hear from any motorists who may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.

“Finally, I would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place.”
