Serious Injury Collision In West Dorset

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward following a serious injury collision in West Dorset.

Dorset Police received a report at 10.31am on Monday 4 November 2024 of a collision on the A356 near Chedington involving a silver Volvo XC40 and a silver Volkswagen Touran.

Emergency services attended and the driver of the Volkswagen, a man aged in his 40s, was taken by air ambulance to hospital for treatment to injuries that were believed to be serious. His next of kin has been informed.

There were no other reports of serious injuries.

Road closures were put in place to allow the emergency services to respond and for a detailed examination of the collision scene to be conducted.

Sergeant Lee Savage, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision.

“I would urge any witnesses to the collision, or the manner of driving of the vehicles involved prior to it, to please make contact with us.

“I am also keen to hear from any motorists who may have captured relevant dashcam footage.

“Finally, I would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place. These are necessary to enable the emergency services to safely respond to the incident and for the scene to be examined.”
