Six people now charged following attempted murder of Poole and Bournemouth men

Two further suspects have been charged in connection with an alleged assault in Boscombe, taking the total number of individuals charged in the investigation to six.

An investigation, led by detectives from Bournemouth CID, remains ongoing into an incident that occurred at around 8.55pm on Monday 29 January 2024 in Christchurch Road in the Boscombe Precinct.

It was reported that two men – aged in their 20s and 30s from Bournemouth and Poole – sustained stab wounds and were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not life-threatening.

It was further reported that a third man, aged in his 40s, sustained injuries during the incident that are not life-threatening.

Previously four people – a 16-year old boy and three men, aged 20, 21 and 25, all from Bournemouth – were arrested and subsequently charged with attempted murder. All four defendants are next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday 7 March 2024.

In a further development in the investigation, a 19-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested and also charged with attempted murder. He appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 8 February 2024 and is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday 7 May 2024.

A 26-year-old Bournemouth man has also been arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession an offensive weapon in a public place. He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday 9 February 2024.

In other developments, a 22-year-old man from Bournemouth was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent has been released from police bail without charge. A 22-year-old man arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent remains on police bail and a 45-year-old man arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit attempted murder has also been released on police bail.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Bell, of BCP CID, sad: “This remains an ongoing investigation with various active lines of enquiry, and we still have a number of individuals we are looking to identify and speak with in relation to this matter.

“We are grateful for all those who have assisted our enquiries so far and we would continue to urge anyone with information regarding the incident or those involved to please come forward, this can be done through the investigation team or anonymously through Crimestoppers.

“From our enquiries so far, we understand this incident involved individuals who were known to each other and there is nothing to indicate any risk to the wider community.”
