According to a report by the Hebrew newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth,” the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) have witnessed a surge in intestinal ailments among their soldiers. The newspaper highlighted that since the bombardment of Gaza began, donated food reaching the troops has led to a rise in intestinal diseases.

The findings of tests conducted on soldiers indicated the presence of Shigella bacteria causing dysentery, resulting in severe diarrhoea and an increase in body temperatures. Dr. Tal Brosh, the director of the Infectious Diseases Unit at Assuta Hospital in Ashdod, stated, “Diarrhoea has spread among soldiers in the south, in gathering areas, and later among soldiers who went to fight inside Gaza.

“The infection with Shigella bacteria, which causes dysentery, has been diagnosed, and this is a very serious disease.

The disease has also spread among the fighters in Gaza, and Shigella bacteria infection occurs through direct contact between individuals or through food.”
