Space Youth Projects continues deliver services and support during COVID-19 crisis

Space Youth Project are continuing to deliver vital support services to young people across Dorset, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole who identify or are questioning within the LBGT+ community.

Our team leaders and volunteers have worked hard to find ways of connecting with both individuals and groups in order to continue supporting young people and helping them get through this difficult time.  Young people are being encouraged to abide by the ‘stay indoors’ guidance and are also being given a range of ideas in order to make this time more manageable, including volunteering for other groups supporting the vulnerable.

One young person commented: “It’s been so great to be able to continue to attend the groups via a virtual link up.  Actually, I quite like it, and am wondering if we might do this sometimes after the crisis is over!  Even though I’m stuck indoors, I still feel like Space are there to support us, which has been really helpful”

Helen Walsh, CEO of Space Youth Projects, said that “Whilst the COVID-19 crisis has presented challenges for us, we are so proud to have been able to continue delivering ‘virtual’ groups and support to all our young people.  It’s so important that we do this so we can help them adhere to the current public health guidance whilst feeling connected to the support they are used to”
