Speaking in favour of Navitus

Off-shore wind turbines

At the meeting of the Economy Overview and Scrutiny Committee held in Poole Civic Centre on Monday 2nd June, nine excellent presentations were given by supporters of the Navitus Bay Wind Park.  The speakers included representatives of various local environmental groups as well as concerned individuals, and all approached the subject from different viewpoints.  Dorset is committed to meeting its obligation to cut carbon emissions and produce electricity from renewable sources and none of the speakers opposing the off-shore wind farm made alternative suggestions as to how this might be achieved.

It is therefore disappointing to read in the Bournemouth Echo that the Conservative Councillors (19 out of the total of 42) have voted to oppose the development.
