On Friday evening (21/8), Stand Up to Racism (SUTR) Bournemouth organised a counter-protest against a right-wing gathering at the Britannia Hotel. The SUTR event was a powerful display of community spirit, diversity, and peaceful resistance against the rising tide of nationalism and xenophobia.

Despite baseless claims from the opposing side, the SUTR counter-protest was comprised entirely of local BCP and Dorset community members, with the exception of a few visiting holidaymakers from London who joined in solidarity.
The event featured a lively performance by the XR drummers, repurposed flags, and a donation drive for asylum seekers residing in the hotel, collecting essential items such as fruit and board games.
Throughout the evening, SUTR protesters conducted themselves with dignity and respect, contrasting sharply with the aggressive behavior displayed by some members of the opposing group.
“This evening’s counter-protest was a testament to the strength and resilience of our community,” said a spokesperson for SUTR Bournemouth. “We will continue to stand up against racism, xenophobia, and hate in all its forms, and we invite everyone who shares our values to join us.”
SUTR Bournemouth reaffirms its commitment to promoting inclusivity, diversity, and human rights, and will persist in challenging the divisive rhetoric and actions of far-right extremists.
Join Stand Up to Racism Bournemouth at their next event and help build a stronger, more compassionate community.
