Under Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour government, there will be no objection to the International Criminal Court (ICC) issuing an arrest warrant for Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Earlier this year, Prosecutor Karim Khan KC applied for arrest warrants for Israel’s prime minister and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar over alleged war crimes. During Rishi Sunak’s Tory government, the UK had considered challenging the ICC’s authority to issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Israel’s defense minister, Yoav Gallant.

A Number 10 spokesperson stated that the issuance of warrants is a decision for the ICC. The government strongly believes in the rule of law and the separation of powers, affirming that the ICC can make its own independent decisions.
