Dorset’s Police and Crime Commissioner Martyn Underhill has paid tribute to Paul McKeever, the Chairman of the Police Federation of England and Wales, who has died in hospital.

The Federation said Mr McKeever, 57, had suffered a suspected embolism.

Martyn Underhill said “Paul McKeever was a champion of the Police Federation. An articulate, intelligent and gentle man who argued his position with calm and a hidden strength. His passion for the Police Service will be his legacy. Paul served communities and his colleagues for many years and it is so sad that he did not get to enjoy his pending retirement. My condolences go to his wife and family at this difficult time”.
