A ten-year plan to improve access along the Stour Valley will be considered at the next Bournemouth Borough Council Cabinet meetingon Wednesday 18 December.
The Stour Valley Masterplan sets out Bournemouth Council’s ideas and aspirations for the development of leisure within the borough along the Stour Valley corridor, which runs between Hengistbury Head Nature reserve and Millhams Mead Nature reserve.
Councillors will be asked to approve the implementation of the Stour Valley Masterplan for the period 2014-2024.
The plans aim to:
-
maximise accessibility and public enjoyment of this linear corridor on foot, bike, buggy and wheelchair
-
improve surfaces, signage, gateways and branding
-
develop facilities at key activity sites at intervals along the route.
Councillor Lawrence Williams, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Tourism & Culture, said:
“These new plans are exciting and will make it much easier for residents and visitors to access the various locations along the Stour Valley corridor. It is important that everyone gets a chance to explore and enjoy the nature and wildlife which we are so lucky to have in Bournemouth.”
The Stour Valley Masterplan will have no immediate effect on Council finances and individual projects will be developed and assessed for financial implications as and when they come forward.
