Student midwives win national award

Two Dorset County Hospital student midwives have won a national award in recognition of their work to support families who have lost a baby.

Emma Knott and Jo Mockler received the Student Midwife of the Year award at the British Journal of Midwifery Awards in London.

Head of Midwifery at DCH Jo Hartley said: “Emma and Jo won because of the extraordinary commitment they have made to the bereaved families who use our service, raising thousands of pounds to improve facilities for them.”

Emma and Jo have also been asked to join the editorial team of the British Journal of Midwifery, writing a blog every other month for publication.

Emma has also been awarded the Bournemouth University School of Health and Social Care Midwifery Student Award, which she will collect at a ceremony next month.
