A man is due to appeal in court in connection with a reported fail-to-stop collision in East Dorset.

It was reported that at around 1.15am on Monday 3 July 2023 an 18-year-old man was walking along Abbott Street in Pamphill when he was struck by a car as it drove past him.

The victim was reportedly knocked into the undergrowth at the side of the road and required hospital treatment for a laceration to his head and possible dislocated shoulder.

It was reported that the car involved stopped at the scene initially, but the driver then allegedly left the scene without giving his details.

Following a public appeal, a man aged in his 20s from Sturminster Marshall came forward in connection with the incident. He has now been issued with a postal requisition to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 8 August 2023 for offences of failing to stop after a road accident, failing to report a road accident and driving without due care and attention.
